Spirit Play

Altered Google Image

my spirit plays amongst
microscopic particles
of sand sparkling
left clean

as the salty ocean water
leaves trails
of foam behind

an intruder…
but nought as it
takes flight drifting
in and out of wildflowers

as a honey bee
gathering
golden pollen
from within each
petaled wonder

taking with it the
beauty of fragrance
it once again rises

to find healing in
the sunrays
cleansing in
the raindrops

letting colors of
the rainbow
penetrate
to become one
with its’ soul

to wrap itself
in grandeur of
nature to embody
it all

my spirit shares a
moment in time
cascading
down waterfalls

smoothing pebbles
in a stream
catching glimpses and
reflections
its’ life
embodiment of mine

Like most people with one issue I have many! An with my thoughts all over the place today I couldn’t settle on what to write on sooo….I decided to post this quote that I found.  If only I could figure out how to follow it’s, oh so wise, wisdom I wouldn’t have my hives issue! Here’s to the outlook of one day being able to do exactly what it says! Adina

Images of Teddy Bears

Altered Image Desktop Wallpaper

fighting back the fears
of losing you always
illusive as giant spiders
crawling over me
on the attack..ATTACKING

talking to you calmly
joking about tomorrows
amidst sterile sheets
IV lines needle piercing
driP, drIP, DRIPPING

watching your eyes
close beneath the shining
BRIGHT hospital lights
you seem SO very small
but only to me

glancing as attendants
wheel people by their
surgery already done
time goes by the
clock ticK, tiCK, TICKING

purple hospital gown
images of teddy bears
my heart beating
against my rib cage
thump…THUMPING

you lay before me waiting
and…one minute here
…the next one gone
time mediates anxiety
’til i see you smile again

My daughter had a successful surgery to remove surgical clips left from a surgery some 14yrs ago now and is doing well. The doctor who did the surgery has since disappeared (you hear about this happening to people you don’t know) but my daughter is now happy that perhaps she can get on with life. These are the things that went through my mind before her surgery.

Memory Fleeting

between pages
torn and weathered
i see you there upon the
rustic bookshelves
in my mind
calling out my name
as if

i’m meant to hear but
naught are echoes of your
voice unclear as i run
barefoot through
my childhood years
seeing

you smiling back at me
sharing our own
private joke
my memory fleeting
your image fades
to grey tones

My mother has been gone for nearly five years now but she is never far away from me. She would have been 85 yrs old on November 13th. Happy Birthday Mom!

The Market

Altered Google Images

we walk casually in
the brisk Fall air
past market vendors
selling their wares

greeted by….yes!
the smell of lilies
fragrant from the
flower stalls vendors

moving forth like a
well-oiled machine
albeit STICKing
at times in the
flow of the crowd
always unseen

the smell of fish
a Fish Monger is
shouting out
“FRESH SALMON!
FRESH TROUT!”

SOOOO many sights
SOOOO many smells
BOMBard our senses
fresh spices for sell
cinnAmon___HMMMMMMM
honey from the hives
all flavors to delight

we move past ARTisans
jewelry gleaming
watercolor canvas
of hats and scarves
multicolored WeaVing

the music from
street MUSICians
float genTly to our ears
breathy jaZZ clarinet
guitar oldies as
we weave and steer

we move outside to
the OTHER side a
CoBbLeStOnE street
to mingle with
another crowd
never stopping to greet

to offer up some of “OURS”
to the man rummaging
through a garbage can
do WE__do THEY sEE him
disparaging in the cold

do WE__do THEY lOOk
right through him
regardless
of his soul

the fruit vendor YELLS out
“TRY SWEET ASIAN PEARS HERE!”
offers them to passerby
smiling and with cheer

while the man continues
his search for food
aware he is on the FRinge
feeling he isn’t welcome
where the fruit
overflows the bins

we walk on by
taking home our wares
to sleep in a coZZZy bed
i wake in the shower
to vanilla scented soap
his image still in
my HEAD

Went to the Seattle Market today and love that there is so much to see, so much to do, but the stark contrast of the world, in which we live,
hit home on this day.

Personal Harvest

Altered Google Image Fall Leaves

a visual carpet of color
captures my eyes
dances upon my head
surrounding me

thin as tissue paper
albeit tiny veins
like a map of even
smaller proportion

i grab my coat closer
watching my own
personal harvest as
the wind carries them

across city streets
i remember all the
years past when i
shared them with you
