The ground is scattered with fallen pinecones
a design without a pattern intricately woven
each cone has its own representation
of a different unique stitch
each moment they take flight and hit the ground
they create a new music filled with
silent abstract notes and enhanced
by the deep greens of the forest floor
while in the background a tapestry
is sweeping, sloping in its rising
is a surreal undulation of hills
that surround the valley
laying in peaceful repose
a testament to Natureās beauty
an artistās canvas unsurpassed
which only the painterās brush
can aspire to imagination
and will never be master

Imagine Pinecones on the Forest Floor

I love watching the little winged seeds take flight. Nice meditation on pinecones. šš

Thank you for your comment, Bella. Aspects of meditation are different for each person that undertakes to step into it and that includes myself. But I was, alas, simply inspired by the beauty of Nature to write and when I saw squirrels foraging beneath the fir and pine for those things that had fallen on the ground…so, it began. I wrote this piece some years ago and just recently came across it. I am enjoying reading your posts and I am happy you are now back in Hawaii (I’m assuming you have returned) to be where it is that fills your soul and gives you peace. Take care.

Love how you described pinecones, ‘a design without a pattern intricately woven’. Here in Australia we get a fair bit of pinecones, all sorts of shapes and sizes too. I remember when I was younger I used to paint pinecones, such a fun activity. It sounds like a lovely part of the world where you are in, being able to immerse yourself in nature and find inspiration to write this poem and take a lovely photo of pinecones š
