The Uncertainty of Nature

Time changes everything in sparkling grains of sand
moving with the tides driven by the pull of the moon
shadowy specters creeping into the landscape
lay down empty beings outlined by the moonlight

the Doe moves with her young Buck in rising sunlight
specters receding paying homage to life in motion
while time moves forward in orange yellow speed
the young Buck is alone in his search for food

the Doe has taken leave to birth her small fawn
returning with the pale blue of dawn but briefly
for her spotted tiny ‘mini me’ viewing a world new
seeing all that has come before with bright eyes

Nature uncertain, a changing labyrinth bellowing
blues, greens soft and wily while flowering blossoms
scream a rainbow of colors dancing across the stage
the young Buck will return with the Doe once again
her new fawn hidden until a new day begins

  1. I seem to have missed a couple of your posts, Renee; I don’t know why. I love seeing your poems and this one, like others, bursts with joy in the natural world and our own place in it. Lovely to read!

    1. Thank you, John. I haven’t written much this year for there are many changes I am going through. No matter the age, changes are an adjustment. I am getting through to the other side. Nonetheless, I appreciate your visit and your kind words. Take care.

  2. Hi Sue,

Thanks for asking after me here. No, I have not written in a very long time now. I have had much stress getting adjusted to this new facet of my life as I navigate it’s complicated waters…so to speak. I do think of writing but I haven’t the space in which to do so. I have now completed a building that will be my new studio. In this space I am hoping to begin doing canvas again and of course, to write. I continue to read your posts and look forward to them. Take great care. xoxo
