The wheels of cars in traffic toss leaves around
nearly soundless but my ear picks up the dryness
of Fall rustling in the wind that mimics the sound
of confetti stained with the palest of golden yellow
or burnished bronze with brilliant crimson reds
all falling, swirling down on asphalt oil stained
that now becomes a veritable canvas lit stage
Nature’s wonder captivating me, mesmerized, awed
bringing my eyes to look skyward to them and I see
tall narrow canopies of trees appearing to be dipped
in the colors of a painter’s palette and a melee
of colorful drips descend from the branches aflutter
and all traffic noise becomes mute and disappears

Renee, this is so beautiful! Your images are vivid and colorful as always.
(Sorry I was inactive here for awhile. It’s taking me awhile to catch up with everyone. Hope you’re doing well as we enter into a new season again. Summer went too fast.)

I do hope you are alright. I did miss you and did notice you were incognito…so to speak. I’m happy you are back and glad you liked the poem.

Thank you, Renee. I’m starting to feel human again, after being ill for several months. It’s really good to be in touch with you again. All your poems are just lovely!

Thank you John. It took lots of time to settle into the idea of taking photos and changing them up a notch to go with what I write. I’ve never been much of a computer person, actually, and would rather draw and paint on canvas and paper but it works out alright. I’m glad you enjoyed the read.
