Prisms of Life

Thousands of raindrops falling
are like tiny clear crystals
jewels upon my window
where I see

my life unfold in mirrored images
a kaleidoscope  of dismal greys
not yet transformed
into rainbows
of colors

not yet penetrating my soul
the very spirit of my being
collecting like shattered glass
beneath my feet

my life will transform into something
manifest as colored prisms within
the kaleidoscope’s hidden
brilliant colored
light

a revelation of a loving heart
long sleeping inside the pain
of living in fear of knowing
of feeling alive

for as the images change amongst
the shards of broken glass
they must also within
the turning kaleidoscope
of colors

images change in all Seasons
spring flowers bloom abundantly
tender leaves of bright green unfurl
birdsong and insects serenade

summer dry and hot in all manner
relishing a soothing drink of water
touching landscapes brown to then

bringing fall’s brilliant colors
of reds, golds, yellows and orange
foliage turning brown and brittle
welcoming cold of winter

so spring returns to flourish
to bring life new yet already
here thriving beneath the safety
the warmth of moss and soil
always living in
hibernation

so all is alive within my spirit
hidden within smoldering embers
waiting to emerge
relishing the
breath of life

  1. My takeaway: What a lovely journey through your ‘process!’ To begin and slowly become aware of where the mind is going and what power we possess to alter that particular dead-end and transform the journey … meanwhile setting it all to beautiful poetic verse, well … it’s not as easy as it might look! Great job, Renee. Loved it. 💕

  2. Just beautiful words Renee as you paint that picture of rainbows and colours.. We gather much to our hearts during a life time, saving many of those precious rainbows for those cloudy grey days of the soul..
I think as we mature with age we also find the colours others can not see as we uncover the gems held within hearts..
This journey we are on dear Renee is one of discovery at ever turn through ever season…
Now as we settle in our own particular autumn we nurture the colours even more..
    Wonderful words Renee…
Sending so much love your way… 💚🙏💚

    1. Thank you Sue for such kind words. Sorry to get back late. I am presently staying at a friend’s place in the city where I use to live as my car is in the shop getting the head gasket replaced. It has been heating up off and on for months and I have had it into the shop where they have replaced various parts. This PT Cruiser looks very good for a 12yr old car but looks are deceiving as they say. I am very lucky the head gasket did not blow and then I would have been without a car. So, I must have an angel on my shoulder. Sending much love your way, my good friend. xoxo

      1. I understand all about head gaskets I had three on my old Rover 200 it was a well known fault on the engine… I eventually replaced many things on this car before I sold it as I lost confidence in it.. Some one inherited a good little car as I had lots of work completed on it lol 💚😁

      2. That’s rather the way I feel about this PT Cruiser…a 2007. Once I do have to trade it in for something else, someone will get a reliable car as I have always kept up the maintenance. Tomorrow it should be ready at some point. I will be glad to get it back as the Holiday fast approaches. Take care. xoxo

    1. Thank you, Betty. I, too, have been caught up in my ‘mental and emotional’ well being. Something I have not had the time to take care of until now…much needed. I try to go into sites but I know I am needing to ‘catch up’ as you say. Yes, it has been very cold, hasn’t it. I much prefer it to be warmer but this is Washington winter after all. I hope you are doing alright and keeping warm as well.

      1. Good to hear back from you, Rene. I’ve missed being in touch.
Temps are a little warmer but it’s been pouring rain all day and we’re under a flood watch the next couple of days. Rivers are rising…. I imagine you’re getting the same downpour? Windy too. Take care!

      2. Yes, the weather has been extremely storm. Wind and rain all night long and still going on right now. Water pooling everywhere and when I took my dog out, my daughter’s yard is like a bog. It doesn’t surprise me there are flood warnings with all the rivers here in Washington for when they rise, there can be big problems for the people that live near them. I do hope your house in on higher ground. Take care, Betty.

      3. The rain has finally stopped for now – I hope it has there too, Renee. We’re in an area that’s supposedly safe (500 year flood zone) but with rising oceans I fear the three rivers around us could back up this far eventually. We’re good for now though. You take care also!
