Sunset Confection

Sunsets here cut a swath of farraginous pinks
reminding one of silky ribbons in motion
or lengths of stretched pulled taffy
held with invisible hands of the confectioner

who keeps stretching until there is but a thin
sliver of light kissed candy crossing the horizon
in muted tones of fading colors

turning dusky, obscuring the end of the day
where only silhouettes of buildings and trees
remain unmoved like giant sentries watching
with eyes that cannot be seen
but felt in knowing
seeing all

  1. Beautifully penned, Renee. As always, you are great at producing such amazing images of nature, so delicately woven words to express the feelings the last sun rays and lights evoke in you before darkness takes its turn. I love the image of the silouetted buildings and trees as watching sentries, a beautiful personification that provides a powerful end to your piece.

    1. I likened my image to the poem and was pleased it turned out well. I always write something and endeavor to find a photo which I can transition to art but am not always very lucky in that regard. Thank you for your kind comment, Ian, and I do hope you are doing well. Take care.

  2. I do envy you your beautiful sunsets Renee, Here we do not see as often, mainly as there is so much cloud.
But recently we have been having more red skies and reflections off the clouds..
Sending you continued thoughts Renee… Summer is being promised us, in a few days after much heavy rain.. Today its grey and drizzling again, hence why I am on my PC 🙂 and in WP.. My knitting too is calling, but I thought I had better try catching up a little 🙂
