A Bitter Embrace

The fog moving with stealth
settles in for the night
heavy & without substance

coveting each nuance of sound
even the leaves drifting
to settle upon the ground
are silent familiars

this chilling miasma still here
as morning arrives within
its’ bitter embrace

a mask covering snaking streets
alley ways and buildings
where even lamp lights
shine bleakly
dampened

a spider abandoning its’ post
leaves dew drops glistening
as jewels upon its’ web

    1. Thank you Sue. I knew you would appreciate it as I do know that you have fog over there, probably more than you might like. It did disappear but I am sure will be right back as Fall and Winter are times for fog. xoxo

    1. Fall and Winter cold are never good things for me and the damp of fog cuts you right through but right now we are actually having beautiful days and the colors are wonderful. I was born and raised in CA and I do miss the weather in large part, although these days due to too much heat and drought is not the place I remember of my youth when I go to visit. Thank you for your kind words. I do believe your present habitat is one to embrace. Aloha!

      1. Yes, the earth is heating up. And Southern California is beyond overcrowded. A challenging combination for those who reside there. I do not envy them. Hope your winter is not too damp. Cold damp does me no good either. Of course jungle heat is pretty taxing on my person as well. Right now it’s pretty sweet. 💕

  1. Wonderfully vivid images, Renee. I especially love the jewels left on the spider web.
It was foggy this morning here too…but a beautiful day. Winter’s coming though – and I’m already counting the days until next spring.
    Take care, and stay warm!
