If each star is a point of reference
three triangular shapes
with each point lingering
a distance unknown
Where my soul rests before
each journey sought
Then nature is my paramour
from snow glacial
mountain peaks
The highest peaks
touched gently
by wispy
cloud fingers
Whose icy interludes
might be reminiscent
of tiny sugar crystals
sweet upon the tongue
Whose unexpected avalanche
transports me unaware
to the mossy green bed
in a distant
forest glen
Whereupon, I will in secret see
a thunderous waterfall
of rainbow colored hues
brilliantly lit
by sun rays
The mist of the water
touches my skin
a sheen of droplets
translucent
Smitten I become
as the sound of bird song
and the fragrance
of meadow flowers
drift to me
upon
the
wind

Thank you Betty. I spent my childhood always outdoors and even in my youth as a young woman did so much more than I do now. I had no idea of so many health issues and did what I thought I could do the same as others. Now, after heart surgery, I finally understand I was treading time in the enjoyment of it but I am happy I had the time. Hope you are well.

Renee, same thing here. My childhood friends and I played outside in the woods and vacant lots every day (rain or shine) until our moms called us home. Grown up years camping, gardening, the ocean…. Am so glad for those memories. I can relate to the health issues, as you know. It’s frustrating, but like you, I’m happy to have had the time. (Alas, we take it for granted when we’re younger.)
Hope you’re doing as well as possible too.

Thank you Libby. Although my health keeps me indoors much of the time now, if I could live outdoors I would.

Oh my God Renee, so are we! We saw the damage just this tropical storm did, and that fact was driven home hard. I would not want to live through a hurricane here. And we have lived through other tropical storms in our many years on the islands, This was by far the worst. And we usually don’t get hurricanes as our big volcanic mountains push them out to sea. May it always be so. Aloha. 😘
