aloha Renee. very cool on the photo. i like the clarity as well as the image a lot. i dont know if you are interested in reading about “haiku thinking” or not. i know i dont want to take the fun out of writing for you or anyone else. so if you are not interested, that’s fine and you need not follow up on this link i’ll post here:

i continue to read about haiku and try to understand what makes good haiku good. i’ve noticed that you often use 3 distinct lines, each line a phrase. this was my understanding at one time as well. however i came across a great site by a really good haikuist, Jane Reichhold, who was really good at explaining things. one of the things i thought she explained well was “Fragment and Phrase” or “Fragment and Phrase Theory” (the link above). as i began to use the thinking in my haiku i felt my haiku improved. i still use it today, along with many other writers as well. it’s a longish article however it explains the why and how, well. for me it actually made haiku easier in some ways. so i hope you dont mind me sharing it here with you. Jane did a lot for haiku in the western world. i dont know how much longer that site will remain up. Jane died last summer. she is missed.
