***WHERE MY SEED WAS SOWN***

Blue over stuffed sofas
surround a braided rug
one of few things familiar
in my childhood home
where my seed was sown

The spinet piano sets still
piled now with books & boxes
I played now silent keys
in my childhood home
where my seed was sown

A framed photo watchful eyes
mother oversees this room
her beauty & youth smiling
a house she made come true
in my childhood home
where my seed was sown

  1. Nothing like those memories set within our childhood home.. Yes the seeds of which we carry with us throughout our lives.. as we plant more of our own for our own younger offspring to cherish..

Beautiful Renee.. I hope you will find time soon to play the notes of that Piano my friend.. they have stayed silent too long..

    1. Thank you! I could not bring my piano with me and it now sets in my youngest daughter’s living room a distance away. I do have a keyboard but no where to put it up presently. The apartment is half the size of the house and has been an adjustment. But I am writing and doing art. Take care. 🙂

  2. Hi Renee This beautiful poem brings me straight back to the place where my seeds were planted and which I am going to visit next year. I can’t wait. Hope all is good with you.

    1. Hi Marja! So glad to see you here. Had open heart surgery in April but not sure if I told you or not. Am retired and have sold my house and moved to an apartment. Life has been a challenge but have a new great grand daughter which is a wonderful thing. Do take care and hope you and your family are well.

  3. As with most families ‘dysfunctional’ was the norm but after many years of processing and understanding I can now see the memories and separate the good from the bad…like chafing wheat…and this is a memory that remains. Thank you for your kind words…as always. 🙂
