So was she a volunteer to look after the parakeet during the school holidays? In my childrens days it was hamsters.. 🙂

The parakeet was such a gift although mother did not like that I brought it home. My teacher brought it for me the last day of school. Mother told me if I must keep it that it needed to reside in the garage and so it did for about six years or so. I thought it to be a girl so named it Queenie but it was a boy but always answered to that name. LOL
