dodging raindrops as though
they were standing still
her mind drifts
like the tide
to another time
another page
in the day
of whose life
she knows
the wind carries salt spray
on the warm breeze
& it settles on skin
browned by the sun
& she watches her there
as she stands
taking it in
the ocean teeming with life
watered down crimson red
the tide restricted
of swimming
but she wades just a bit
bare feet greeting
the sticky warmth of it
the smell of salty air
weighed down
by the life seemingly
contained
abounds as though
someone cast
a large net
meant to capture…
but not long after
it is gone

A beautiful writing Renee, it opens up to a great imaginative scenario.
Loneliness on the shores beneath a setting sun.
Then again that might be just my poetic mind playing games.
I enjoyed the post.

Thanks Ian and for always taking time to stop by. This year is still a bit slow going for me but trying to not overdue as you might well know, the older one gets the more difficult it is to get well once you are ill. Hope you and your family are having a good start to 2014.

wading a bit in the ocean that is teeming with life… it helps me in times when i don’t feel much alive myself… the ocean is a tender whisper for a troubled soul… hope you’re feeling better again… hugs…

I am feeling better, thank you, after having been sick twice this Winter and the last flu virus I got was a bad one. But I’m tough, I guess, or so they tell me. I do miss the California beaches I grew up going to and my experience with the red tide is one a person never forgets. Smiles
