Catching Particles

Catching Particles

splintered wood from
a lightning struck tree
catching particles
of afternoon sun

like reflections
of another self
transformed in
Alice’s looking-glass

catching particles
of colored prisms
the waterfall dances
over time’s precipice

& the dragonfly is seen
catching particles
of each ray of sun
season of summer done

  1. Beautiful imagery – in your poems, Renee – I think that’s what Sarah meant to – ??? It’s just simply lovely and you did pick just the right photo to illustrate. 🙂 Nice work! 🙂

  2. Dragonflies are just so beautiful I caught the glimpse of two on a short walk the other day as they dipped over my head…
The prisms of colour particles are in so many things, and you with your beautiful poem have captured so many, as the rays of sun dance upon the earth making so many things magical….

Wonderful imagery you have painted with your own coloured brush Renee…

Love and Blessings enjoy the rest of your week dear friend

    1. I will wait to hear from you via email. I read your link and as it is posed as a challenge, I probably will not participate. The word ‘challenge’ to me, denotes that someone is trying to be better than someone else or is trying to win a competition. I write because I love to write and so the whole challenge thing is a dilemma for me as following a type of form is not something that causes me to be creative but rather I get stuck and cannot think of anything to write. It is just me and I’m sure it is good for many others out there. I admire you and look forward to hearing what you have to say. Thank You!

      1. I’m glad you said this because we mean “challenge” in the sense of challenging yourself to do something new and different. It’s not a contest. Contests and competitions would be antithetical to all that Bardo stands for. Perhaps others have interpreted challenge in a way we don’t mean, so I will re-visit the wording.

Many blessing, Renee. Again, thank you.

      2. I meant no offense but to just give my take on it and I see I am wrong so should have asked. Also, something I did not say in my email is that it seems all of your contributors are published? At least it seems that way. To me, being published is the ultimate in being a writer and although I had something published once (have the copyright) and another time published some things for a church I attended, I’ve never been “published” as it seems the people on your site have. I’m not sure I am even on the same plain as they are. I look forward to hearing from you as I value your opinion. Blessings to you as well.

  4. the image of the splintered tree catching particles of sunlight– reflections of another self, transformed…really moved me… there’s so much depth in just this short part and it tells a whole story at how things can change by changing the perspective.. much magic in this..

    1. Yes, Jamie. You are very kind. I will make an effort to write more to submit to your site. I’ve not had someone before that thought my writing was something that was worth posting. Have written all my life but the rules in our age of technology have changed the way we look at the writing in the end. Take care.
