reading books is like seeing
endless stories weaving
words of magic
like light filtered
through glass prisms
creating soft rainbows
on the squares of
maple floor that lie
beneath her bare feet
like shifting paradigms
settling adrift as a
snowy blanket of seeds
from cottonwood trees
in Spring
when the rivers run
swift and high
filled with the melting
of snow from Winter
so it is with mixed feelings
that a story ends
as when leaves die and
drift to the ground
in Autumn
she awaits with anticipation
the beginning
of another story
that will weave
words of magic
again

ah i agree…there are a few authors that really capture me and when i find a good series and get to that last book and know i have to wait a year or so…ugh…i grew up reading and they were in many ways my escape…and then of course there is the metaphor of our own stories…smiles.

Thanks Brian! I’m an addict and was told once, between moves, that if I did not get rid of some of my books, my adult kids would not help me move. They especially did not like the place where I lived three floors up. lol. So, what can I say…I need help. So, I got rid of some books. (Have bought more since I moved though so will have to relinquish again.)

oh so true…sometimes you can really live with a good woven story and when you realize you come to the last pages it’s almost like saying good bye to a good friend…. books are so magical…

Books are my one true treasure – after family and health, Renee. And my gift to my children really are a love for books, legends and poetry.

Thank you Ninotaziz! Before my mother died she could read three books simultaneously and always knew where she was at in each one.

Well, when I moved last I got rid of books as well. It was hard, but I decided I had to get rid of everything that really did not have special ‘meaning’ for me. Books ARE treasures though for sure. I have a kindle now, and though it is convenient it doesn’t have the FEEL of a real book.

They are a treasure so I try to pass them on to my girls as they love to read as well and those I know I won’t read again…well, those go to whoever might enjoy them. Thank You!
