Rose Colored Glasses

do you look at me through
rose colored glasses
waiting for the
clouds to part in
a display of sunshine

or do you wait cautiously
for the dust to settle
as i pick up the pieces
that fall without
ceremony to your feet

knowing that life cannot
be only black & white
for it is only after
storms the rainbows appear
& love is the tie that binds

  4. Renee, this is truly beautiful. For me it was impossible to write a serious poem using idioms, but you mastered this beautifully. I am very impressed; and yes, love IS the tie that binds indeed. It is so rewarding when two people each find someone who is ‘the apple of their eye.’
