Change Comes Quickly

change comes quickly
sometimes
just as we knew it would
not unlike an unwanted
intruder…silently
entering
with stealth
in darkness

waiting, just waiting…
remember how
we would wait
a game of hide ‘n seek
with only the
street lamps lit
casting shadows and
you hoped it
wasn’t yours
and then

you were found out
even though
you thought you were
hidden
and we did think so
didn’t we
safe from the
trappings
of life

in our home with a
door closed to who…
to the intruders,
of course…and
to change
but with the
light of day
it all is
clear

like a mirrored
reflection
in cut crystal glasses
but not so…
really
as the crystal is
but jagged pieces
and sharp edges
juxtaposed

fitting but not so
as a piece
here and there
slips
out of view
out of our view and
what do we do
but wait and wait
or turn about
like a kaleidoscope
to view something
else…new

for the domino pieces
do begin their fall
from him to her and
on and on as
change keeps coming
putting in motion
a game of
cause and effect
an unknowing

without warning but life
has no sounding
bells
no alarms ringing
to alert us that
it is here for
change comes
quickly

  1. nice…change does happen…quickly and often without our notice….it slips in and until we notice….i was relating to the hide n seek…we used to play it at night in the yard what fun….nice progression into the crystal shards as well…turning like a kaleidiscope….

    1. I’ve found just recently that no matter what your plans are, change is waiting in the next minute. Will need to be moving in the near future. It was planned but change moved in sooner than expected. Thanks Brian!

  2. i like the images you use for change here…indeed it comes quickly…slipping in without us noticing…i like the crystal shards, for me underlines that life is not a plain glass plate but exactly made of shards, like mosaics in a church window with all its beauty but also with its interrupted surface that changes so quickly sometimes…much liked..

  3. Renee, you capture Change so well….I know Change can come in many forms and strikes almost unnoticed at time, At others we know we have to prepare to move on and yet inwardly we know too when that time is right… Change is a good thing .. It means we do not stand still, or stagnate.. We go with the Flow of Life.. and as one door closes another two open…

Sending you my love and know dear friend that this is Positive for it is bringing you to where you are meant to be…….

    1. Yes, we keep trying to look at the positive side of things. She is a cancer survivor and her long commute and night hours are wearing her down and health is so important. Yes, change is hard but might be good also. Hugs XXX
