the coastal terrain whizzes
by in my effort to catch up
to claim time as my ally
drift wood laden shores
with rocky strewn beaches
such alien distant creatures
my car picks up speed on
straightaways, slowing down
on curves the car sways
when will i reach destination
unknown a room with a key
time once again has flown
walking on the sandy beach
salt spray, shells and stone
i no longer feel alone
my thoughts weave about the
elusive tide of time’s door
plying soul and spirit’s core
reaching inside to pull my
heart throughout times’ eternity
journey’s calm is wrought
as though the sea winds have
wrapped me within their embrace
helping me again to face
a world where the essence of
time flies capturing unnoticed
years unfurling tinctured rhyme

Isn’t it so free-ing, to walk where the heart and soul fee free and find its peace. That sounds as if it did you (the writer) the world of good. Lovely imagery.

I love the ocean and although the trip was refreshing and good for my soul I am now in quite a bit of pain as my Fibromyalgia is giving me a run for my money. But it will pass and would not trade driving the distance for anything. Thank You!

Did have a lovely time but the driving nearly got me. Took a couple three days to get rid of the pain but I’m good again. I miss the California ocean where I grew up, much warmer and not so cold as here. I could spend every day there as a child. Thank You!

Renee — the ocean/gulf, high tide and low tide, the ebb and flow — are all centering grounds for me … how I miss my trips to the beach, even in the winter … what a reprieve for me each time. Thank you for taking me back for a nostalgic visit. 😀

I spent so much time on CA beaches as a girl and moved here after getting married. No longer married but my children and granddchildren are here so it is here I will remain. But my heart will always be somewhere on a sandy shore. Thank You!
