Inhale

your footsteps
travel
upwARD
held upon
SpIrAlInG
railroad ties
on the forest path
a HEAVY scent of
lichen, moss,
soil HoldinG years
of memories
held within
pine trees’ leafy
umBRELLas
WAFTing up as
you inhale DEEPLY
the smell of
canvas beneath
a star StUdDeD
sky you fall
asleep in a
noiseless
forest except
for the breeze
of gently

    1. I have actually experienced this many years ago when I was not in as much pain and did some backpacking trips with friends. I loved every night looking at these images and now carry them with me always. Thank You!

    1. I am trying to breathe more often lately. I work full time processing medical insurance claims in an office setting (something that pays bills but something I would have never chosen…given a choice) and it is stressful and with my daughter and granddaughter not well….well, I will always be a mother down deep. A friend of mine keeps telling me to breathe and I thought of the nights I spent in the open under the stars when I went backpacking as a young woman and this really helped. Thank You!
