Paisley and Plaid

Implicit information
explicitly shown in
woven paisley and
plaid prints in the
days before the word
victim fit

mirrored in a face in
smiled kindness
when compassion
emptied out into a
moment hidden
from view as

needs were met
not hers’ and when
morning came scars
unseen played out in
emotions walking
with her cavalier

a life seeming like any
other but transformed
into a daydreaming

nightmare seen in
paisley and plaid as
unadorned  fodder

  1. The mind does tend to cling on to both good and bad memories but, the bad ones (I suppose) are there to remind us of where we have no wish to be ever again and, that we will not make the same mistakes, we hope.
    Lovely writing Renee.
I can also ‘follow’ a lot easier now too, couldn’t before for some reason. 🙂

    1. Thanks Bren! I got a bit frustrated with your ‘capture words’ and do still have to do them at many sites but my eyes are so bad that often times I have to try more than once. Glad you can follow easier now as well.

  2. Renee, thank you for leaving this link. Now, the picture looked almost “Mad Men,” so I thought I was in for a “period piece.” Your words haunted me and I will keep this feeling with me for days. The empty suit is just that – a man without conscience and a woman who carries the internal scars of his behavior, his deeds, his sins. Marvelously written. Make me squirm, Renee, I love to really FEEL poetry, not just admire it. Kudos. Peace, Amy

    1. Thank you Trisha! I’ve never had anyone reblog anything I’ve posted before so I was pleasantly surprised. If I don’t post every day it is because I work full time and look at a computer screen all day long and sometimes at the end of a day it is hard to think. Again, thank you. 🙂

I remember wearing paisley blouses and Plaid skirts.. not together I may add, 😉 but its strange isnt it how such simple things can trigger a memory..
