winter’s sky holds images
winged birds in
flight fluttering
black taffeta
dotting the
horizon
black birds blend in
grey skies
amidst giant
evergreen trees
branches waving
as leafy arms
in the wind but I
remain safe and warm
cloistered within
home as sanctuary
waiting for warmer breezes
to return along with
voices of songbirds
heralding in
spring

Yes, the weather has been so strange for so long I would like something different. Last year we barely had Summer and then such a mile Winter, really, except for the snow storm and ice storm. Spring simply sounds wonderful. Thanks Claudia!

I think it will change soon enough but patience is the key. I have seen some robin red breasts about but not many so perhaps it is changing even now. Thank You Sue.

Nothing like spring here Renee. We’re about to have another snow storm Fri/Sat. 10-12 cms, enough to have to shovel. Spring can’t come soon enough for us here.
Lovely, both your painting and prose.

I’m so sorry to hear of your very inclement weather. I don’t like snow so when we got our big storm this year followed by an ice storm it was really way over the top for this area. I did have to shovel and break ice off the car. I’m glad we are past that…at least that’s what they say. Thank you Bren.

Winter months, huh yes, various shades of grey and black with some mist thrown in there. Not much color going on it would seem, but if we really look at it, the shades of grey do vary somewhat. I like the crows, they seem to add to the depiction of the foreboding black and grey of winter. Good thing the darkness is a beginning to spring and the color comes in. Candy
