Iridescent quality of the
incandescence of burning hot
flames tended to in the oven
to breathe life in an effort
becoming, evolving, creating
Reminiscent now of the epitaph
cold to the touch once burning
brightly but now on a granite
headstone quiet in a graveyard
resting ‘neath a tree on a hill
Brilliantly colored and glazed
once held in hands turned on the
potter’s wheel made hard in the
fire baked to perfection holding
bread on someone’s supper table
Mirror brilliant reflecting images
back to the viewer once held by
glass maker’s hands to blow air
within, the heat not breaking, now
viewed in awe in the shop window
White hot the flames fly a shower
of sparks threatening to burn the
artist’s hands ever-present seeking
solace in the knowing that fire is
creation to images unfolding within

Renee, love your take on the many incarnations, the many “faces” of fire and its uses. The stanza with both pottery and bread baking, superb! Amy

The image is merely a free desktop screen saver, which I often use, as it’s easy and I think more difficult to discern if using someone else’s image and being able to site it correctly is doable. Thanks for the kind words.

Insightful of many lives as the Nature of Fire sweeps us within its flame.. This is a beautiful poem Renee which reflects how Fire is part of all of our lives~ as is the wind and water and earth…. All four elements Earth Air Fire and Water..
You have picked a wonderful image to accompany your poem….
Many Blessings….~Dreamwalker .

They started with a spirit, because spirit is the sum of all
things everywhere – Earth Made them wise, Fire made them
fierce, water made them beautiful, and the air made them
free! 😀
One down three to go. I’m a Leo, fire’s my element and I’m
ruled by the sun – my two best friends have earth and air as
their astrological elements – I know it’s stupid but I can’t help
but pretend it mean’s something. ‘~’ Plan on doing the
others?

I have done other posts concerning the Spirit and many of my post contain some of these elements as I feel connected to them in many ways. Food for thought in doing the others, though. Thank you for the suggestion.

Fire, creative and wonderful images of design like glassblowing for example.
If we could hold fire in our hands and shape things by those means it would be an interesting concept. Fire, one of the forces of the universe that in my mind is hard to control so you would have to really understand it and respect its properties.
