Tempura Sunset

Variegated hues of blues
spilling out across the
sky with yellows, oranges
and shades of watercolor
pinks following closely
behind painting the sunset
as tempura colors splashed
with bluest ice atop in a
transformation of edible
nature ready to be consumed
with eyes a delicious dessert
to end a busy Summer day

Another busy day and with a nearly complete kitchen remodel I now also have a nearly complete new small deck, where a once rickity old wooden porch once was. I glanced out of the window and saw an awesome sunset. This comes somewhat close to the colors I saw…not my sunset but wonderful just as mine was.

    1. Thanks Sue! Yes, tomorrow the mini deck will be complete and when I finish painting the kictchen cabinets and my son-in-law finishes the doors I will not be doing anything else until next year. It will be nice.

  2. It never ceases to amaze me that each sunset and sunrise are so different. What gifts we are given if we only take the time to see. Love this poem, Renee, beautifully crafted. As I lived among the chaos of a house being remodeled two times in my life, I can certainly appreciate your relief that it is almost over. Enjoy your “new” home. Hugs, pat

    1. Thank You Pat! Have been in this home for about 7yrs now and it has been a bit of a fixer upper and with limited funds it has taken awhile but now all that is left really is cosmetic. We do a little at a time and my children have helped as they can. The next house needs to be less work as I’m getting a bit old for it all and need more time to write and do my art.

    1. I live in Washington State, city of Tacoma which is about 30 minutes from Seattle. I spent the day with one daughter and the day before another brought me an ice cream cake…something I’d never had…so a real treat.
I got a wondeful phone call from one son and although did not hear from the others know they have hectic lives as we all do. It was a nice birthday overall and hope yours was spent doing some things you love. Thank You Marja!

  4. There is nothing like the grand design of a sunset. Makes one believe in the unique creation of the creator and the painting in the sky that gets to behold each nights dawning, then in the wake of day the sunrise, the day begins again, filled with hope. Truly awesome! Candy
