Her Hands

Her hands brought love in
food she prepared, the baked
goods, the dinners, the
table laden there

Her hands brought love in
hair that she washed, brushed,
cut and braided with care
unsurpassed

Her hands brought love in
teaching many a passion for
reading, sewing, gardening
lives seen with compassion

Her hands brought love in
strength a heart holding life
lived through all of us to the
end from the start

  1. The surprising things mothers can teach us, even long after they are gone. The history endures, time lives on in us and the cycle continues for “hands” held high to reach forward with love.

    1. I conveyed your thanks to my daughter. Being sappy was never an option growing up. Mother was a strong woman who felt everything intensely. I have much to be grateful for. Thank you for your kind words.

  2. That’s beautiful. When I took a writing class a few years ago, I wrote a personal essay I called “Your Hands.” I wrote it about my daughter. It’s a full-circle.
