Fledgling awakening
New Moon rising
Sun proclaiming
 Spiritual crying

Humming insects
ripe fruit
falling from the
neighbor’s avocado
tree and eaten by
our dachsund growing
plump and round
while night crickets
make their rasping
cricket sounds
Apricot Summers
Asphalt streets
sizzling hot sending
waves of rippling
water mirages seen
in the noon day sun
slowly disappearing
cool evenings
light drawn June bugs
sticking to the
backdoor screening

Running between rain drops looking
for the dry spot
Looking between rain clouds seeking
the sunshine
Jumping along hot asphalt streets a
shady spot cooling
Listening outside musical notes to
hear conversation
Looking beyond youth and dreaming
seeing life accomplished
Running between rain drops reveling a
clandestine moment

Rain eclipsing moods somber hesitating
briefly to allow filtered sun to
touch window panes, rooftops
steaming as though hiding a
cooked meal desired until the
smell of baked asphalt drifts by
before the rain drops begin
again lightly, then teeming
unceasing…then as quickly
ceases, the sun allowing a
flower to bloom  Â
