Nature’s Deluge Radiant

A storm shattered the quiet of the night
the calm still air broken by gusts of wind
bringing a deluge of rain in beating
against the house to run in sheets
down the window panes

but the morning breaks and with it
sun shining,, patches of blue sky
the remains of puffy white clouds

the storm merely a harbinger
of good things to come
bringing change in its’ wake

for change is the herald, the messenger
of hope and of promise radiant
in showing that in each new day
there will always lie the beginnings
of new things

as rays of sun light the paths well tread
there will be another cross roads
down which a new path will be taken
and life will move forward
once again

***ANOTHER PASSING STORM***

wind gusts are sweeping
across the surface of the house
like angry waves coursing
filled with emotions
no way to extinguish
like layers of tindered fire

Another Passing Storm

the windows rattle noisily
as though there are hands
that are shaking them
wanting and demanding
to get in

Another Passing Storm

check the locks on the doors
check the seals on the windows
wind is howling now in chorus
like babies wanting more

Another Passing Storm

just as the roof seems lifted
as if being pulled
the house does cease to shudder
the wind now but a breeze
the waves of it calm now
raging flames surceased

Another Passing Storm

Thunder in the Distance

thunder storm
Google Image

thunder in the distance
a train moving
down the tracks
metal grating
against metal
creating
hieroglyphic maps
or is it storm clouds
black and angry
when life is
at our back

raising doubts
that squelch
the laughter
when everything after
can only be thunder
or the rumble
of an unrequited earth
giving birth
to yet another
mountain or is it

only a waterfall in a
distant forest
raising its’
voice in chorus
and we hear it as
thunder in the distance
creating refuge
from an
incendiary past

always keep in mind that
just beyond our
quiet solitude
whether real or an
imaginary cast
there will always be
thunder in the distance
waking us to the
reality of
life

Serenade

last night high winds         wind chimes

Clock Tower

old city hall
clock tower stands tall
over the city waiting
as the winds pick up
for another storm soon
approaching even as
time remains frozen

Song of Lilacs

Purple Lilac

Google Image

rain comes down in
torrential rivulets
as wind buffets
the house

a reminder that the
smell of lilacs
carried on spring
breezes

will remain a distant
song carrying me
to the other side of
  stormy seas

The Fulcrum

i was unaware that i was
caught in a fulcrum of
endless time whizzing
like the white noise of
traffic moving on the
street below leveled

at me never really able
to penetrate beneath
my walled in psyche
keeping me safe so
that age cannot find
me except within the

particles of sand forming
a mirror where upon
i momentarily glance to
see time has captured
me there quite in the
center of endless storms

Hope you will bear with me as I take on something new here. I have found some software online called Real Paint World that takes doing art images online a bit further than Micro Soft Paint. I got really frustrated after lots of trial and errors and then could not, for the life of me, figure out how to save it where I could pull it into the post but finally did.  I have been so taken with a site by Rick Daddario with images and Haikus at    http://rickdaddario.com/blog.htm  (I can never come close) that I decided to go out and get some software I could try on my own.  Thanks for your patience.

#19 Small Stone: Frozen Images

Images iced and frozen
held captive in a
storms frozen embrace
where time and the
cycle of nature only
will release them

City Hibernation

They emerge slowly
like hibernating bears
coming forth after a
storm hesitating
watching
moving about

They begin to shovel
snow and to scrape
icy automobiles in
hopes of venturing
out but they
remain unmoved

One gentleman wields a
camera focusing on
his laurel hedge
photographing
something
then disappears

Children begin to sled
throwing snowballs
laughing the cold
forgotten then
darkness
all is quiet
