***WATCHING WITH HOPE***

The powers that be say some
something more than say others
free will a gift?
to what cost

the expense of war
the ravages of war
death for following
death for an ideal

The powers that be say some
something more than say others
free will a gift?
to what cost

the rape of women
the death of girls
not a choice
not part of freedom

The powers that be say some
something more than say others
free will a gift?
to what cost

children starving
disease going unchecked
trapped in poverty
knowledge for the few

The powers that be say some
something more than say others
watching with hope
to what cost

Who really is to blame for all the ills of the world…or is it really something more.

free now from your pain
to smell everything fragrant
to be running free again
rest well my feline friend

Hemingway was 17yrs old and my last feline friend to cross over to something better. He had been in a decline for a time now and, as it pained me to see him go, I have to believe that I did him a service after all.

Quote by Michaelangelo

I like this quote by the great artist as I believe the same can be said of writing. We have only to write down our thoughts to set them free.

“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”

Michelangelo

Satin Rainbow

We will make it
through as
navigators of days
dimly lit like
a heavy mist
ribboned fog
promising

light at the end of
a tunnel opening
wide telescoping
like the lens of
a camera
filled

dreams dipped in
a satin rainbow
tangible enough
to touch the
softness

sliding upon
skin of shoulders
warmed by sun of
a new day
dawning liquid
like fire that
never burns

quenching a thirst
with glacier waters
without ice
where our spirits
fly free above
all battles
fought

knowing victory is
but a gift a
knowledge of
the heart
life’s journey
only the
path

Magical Transport

Holding the Book of Magic in
your hands you are transported
to those far and distant lands
where your domain beneath trees
is a forest quest at your command

Richly dressed in jaded green a
garment fine red with crimson
satin sheen holding court nigh
as the Fairy Queen a crown of
poinsettia atop garlanded hair

Hovering ’round the air in your
splendid court you might oft see
miniature Phoenix wisely bred to
rise up and set you free as the
pages turn in the Book of Magic

Another submission to Poet’s United Poetry Pantry. The image totally captured my imagination.

The Hibiscus

Like the hibiscus
waiting
anticipating
Spring and
dead dry leaves
replaced with
new tender shoots to
become shade trees
in a new Summer
she waits
for a new year
in hopes that ill
health will be
replenished
in those she loves
that their spirits
will flourish
no longer held captive
but set free
to ride the currents
of mountain breezes
the eagle calls
it’s home
she waits
like the hibiscus
