Fall’s Paintbrushes

The wheels of cars in traffic toss leaves around
nearly soundless but my ear picks up the dryness
of Fall rustling in the wind that mimics the sound
of confetti stained with the palest of golden yellow
or burnished bronze with brilliant crimson reds

all falling, swirling down on asphalt oil stained
that now becomes a veritable canvas lit stage
Nature’s wonder captivating me, mesmerized, awed

bringing my eyes to look skyward to them and I see
tall narrow canopies of trees appearing to be dipped
in the colors of a painter’s palette and a melee
of colorful drips descend from the branches aflutter
and all traffic noise becomes mute and disappears

Orchestrated by Spring

tulip fields

Google Image of Tulip Fields in Washington

purple hyacinths ascend first
to lead the way for
golden daffodils and in
their wake give way to a
multi colored spectrum
of aspiring tulips

all blooming beneath the
white blossoms of the
pear tree and the
pink blossoms of the
formidable cherry tree
waving flowered boughs

while the wind scatters
their petals like bits of
party confetti
they are all a part of
nature’s entertaining
musical endowment

paying homage to life
where each flower that
blooms and wanes becomes
the notes amidst a
tumultuous crescendo
orchestrated by Spring

Confetti Butterflies

Fierce strong winds
unrelenting
as trees are rendered
powerless
leaves harnessed
as branches are picked
clean
thrown free a brilliant
confetti
displaying colors of
reds, yellows, golds
butterflies
strewn about along
streets and gutters as
carpets
clogging city drains
quieting footsteps
the warmth of nature
embroidered
