The Moon Waxing Gibbous

Image Taken From Public Domain Pictures and Digitally Altered by Myself.

First Moon 2018

The moon waxing gibbous yet still
slicing a swath of brilliant light
as a star cloaked in clouds of grey
heralds in another new year

while fallen leaves rain-soaked
leave paths of design wind-blown
on still another cold winter night

speaking in cursory tones of apathy
clothed in ice or frosty breath
billowing as tiny puffs of clouds
as revelers send fireworks skyward

each past year is now a footprint
knowing garnered as grains of sand
stitched into the living fabric

of each life taking every step
along an ocean bathed
in luminous moonlight

as unique as the night sky filled
with a moon waxing gibbous

May everyone have a Peace filled 2018.

December Passion

the Fall brought her to me warm and soft
with dark brown eyes and tiniest hands
reminding me nine months prior to the
month of December when passion ignited
fervor between cotton sheets and darkness
transforming cold into heated pleasure
where in the aftermath holidays came
filling the kitchen with baking of pies,
sweet sugary cookies warm from the oven
& the promise of love lasting a lifetime

Heart's Passion

**Leafy Boughs of Finery**

When the air turns crisp and
harbors promises of cold nights
requiring the layering of clothes
to provide warmth the chill of
autumn dresses for the season
with leafy boughs that become
a finery of golds, yellows, reds
lining the street a fall runway
they bend ever so slightly to see
through the glass eyes of homes
where pumpkin pies are baking
and hot cider is brewing

Autumn Color

***Spring Beckons***

The birds tremble in the cold morning air
wings flutter beneath the leafy boughs

the air is shot through with bird song
like tiny meteorites dancing in the sky

reminding me that the warmth of Spring
beckons in tiny increments of beauty

as the small pink flowers of succulents
peek out smiling with miniature faces

the tiniest flowers of heather in bloom
for weeks despite the daunting cold

for each morning the bird song’s chorus
awakens me and gives my spirit wings

**Visages of Winter***

The visages of winter are still
creeping tenaciously
rising and raging
from wherever the cold
chills us to the bone

promises of warmer weather
tried to intercede
as the heather blooms
showing lavender color

but perhaps with hasty budding
the trees quietly trespassed
longing for leafy foliage
for warmth of boughs

for overnight in the darkness
the snow began falling
blanketing in white a
glistening panorama

winter refusing to leave softly
even in the softness of white
seemed to be shouting loudly
i won’t leave without
a fight

*******Always Tomorrow*******

the tops of pine trees
push their way
out of the fog
like the stuffing
come loose
from an old pillow

who are you, I ask?

the puppies fur
like fluffy cotton
after her bath
but coarser and dense
the static of cold air
pulling it upright

who are you, I ask?

the pre-spring earth
teaming with life
bring juncos, crows
starlings & chickadees
spilling across the yard
the excitement rising

there is always tomorrow

A Sliver of Moon

Sliver of Moon
Google Image

last night I awoke to
large angry raindrops
as tempestuous as a
cold winter’s hail

as thunder rolled
across the night sky
as though trying to
knock over tenpins

amidst lightning strikes
only noticed as the
dark bedroom curtains
began casting shadows

but tonight setting high
in the night sky rests
a sliver of new moon
between gray pillow clouds

Fog Lifting

the fog finally lifted
taking with it the
bitter cold and damp
i was even glad to
hear the wind that
whips around the
corner of my house
