We bask in the glow of compliments
received, inviting their warmth to
encompass us, their healing needed
comforting as silken threads they
touch skin softly caressing to give
a rush of euphoria until time sends
another to remind us we are worthy
We bask in the glow of compliments
unlike the flower always emitting and
infused with fragrance imbued that
is laden with an omission of crimson
accolades it does not warrant as it
remains endearing onto itself it’s
beauteous intent forever personified

Smoke filled room radiates music
sweet and low like the base of a
cello with notes wafting away on
carbon particles sent billowing
from pursed lips on cigarettes a
heady ambiance of slow jazziness
Holding the mic close like a lover
eyes closed, head tilted back to
hypnotize the audience enraptured
like star gazers longing to travel
with her along roller coaster notes
C sharp high, B flat low and mellow
Lights from the stage show shadowy
figures, drinks in hand as haunting
melodies dance across a piano keyboard
drawing the dancers to the floor in
rhythmic succession stepping to the
beat as she belts out notes ever faster

My love for Jazz and the musical realm it portrays has always been a part of my life and after getting to know the author of a particular site I found myself drawn to the idea of posting something for the music I love and also to dedicate it to one who sings it beautifully and with passion. Iridescent quality of the
incandescence of burning hot
flames tended to in the oven
to breathe life in an effort
becoming, evolving, creating
Reminiscent now of the epitaph
cold to the touch once burning
brightly but now on a granite
headstone quiet in a graveyard
resting ‘neath a tree on a hill
Brilliantly colored and glazed
once held in hands turned on the
potter’s wheel made hard in the
fire baked to perfection holding
bread on someone’s supper table
Mirror brilliant reflecting images
back to the viewer once held by
glass maker’s hands to blow air
within, the heat not breaking, now
viewed in awe in the shop window
White hot the flames fly a shower
of sparks threatening to burn the
artist’s hands ever-present seeking
solace in the knowing that fire is
creation to images unfolding within

It might be a little more difficult to tell even seven things about me but I will give it a whirl.
1)Ā I have five adult children and 13 grandchildren (this not counting the newly acquired ones due to my two oldest children’s new significant others…that would be about 9 more)
2)Ā My passion other than writing is music. I play the piano but am very rusty.
3) I’ve sung in performing choruses and choirs and did the occasional solo in church and all this years past.
4) Over the years I’ve done walks/runs for various good causes to raise money such as the March of Dimes, AIDS, Heart Walk, and recently Lupus for my daughter
5)Ā I am a ‘Jill’ of many things and over the past seven years have done much ‘to do’ things on my house (lately with the help of my daughter and son-in-law and early on with my oldest daughter and sons).Ā Climbing 23 foot ladders I have decided is not my forte. I did to paint the trim and won’t again.
6) I graduated from a localĀ university with a degree in Sociology and did a year of graduate study at a seminary inĀ Berkeley CA…began at the age of 35.
7)Ā I really do not like computers at all and have had to figure most of the Blog thing out on my own but it serves a wonderful purpose and that is to be able to do whatĀ I love and to connect with others who have the same passion.
Words fragrant with meaning, layered
edges sometimes jagged enough to cut
leaving wounds behind nearly visible
edges sometimes smooth as glass open
to reveal emotions wrought infinite
Fall leaves piled in driveways and
gutters smelling of mildew and the
mustiness found in old homes years
neglected left with windows shuttered
leaving stories behind collected, untold
Dried flowers still hanging upside down
pressed inside the pages of a forgotten
book with the scent of roses given from
a beau timeless or a casket life ending
riding waves of memories love and loss
Candles burning the aroma of vanilla in
baked goods a reminder of families in
celebration of holidays or the acrid
odor of sulphur the match blown out and
the candle snuffed ending another era

Imagine airwaves filled with energy
amazing light the aura of a rainbow
imagine dreams coming true and a
Ā destiny fulfilled pure as creation
you have imagined ‘Angels Incoming’
Imagine all this energy holding the
radiance of calm and healing to be
with a sick child in a hospital room
holding the hand of grieving parents
you have imagined ‘Angels Incoming’
Imagine hope given freely and comfort
to those in poverty barely living and
those walking the streets without any
home to go to, wrapped warm and fed
you have imagined ‘Angels Incoming’
Imagine peace amongst warring nations
with people held in the grip of pain
death surrounding them and threatening
to take them walking heads held proud

Imagine lands with disease caused by
Ā catastrophic storms where hope seems to
abandon and no future seems left open
now rebuilding, surviving, planning

My oldest daughter has struggled so with her Lupus and continues to rise above when others would have long given up and my youngest daughter somehow is still here after being in an accident that could have taken her life or worse and she is still here and well. Sometimes it is difficult to Not Believe that there is something more, something beyond all comprehension. I, for one, believe in the possibility.
