The Conch Shell

To be cleansed by the salty brine
of the ocean’s ever incoming surf
is like being one with the conch

being held on the empty sandy shore
waiting for the waves gently lapping
its’ beauteous shell

to feel cleansed, to be whole
you can be still within the pain
the suffering you hold

be embraced as the conch is washed
clean and listen to the ocean
within your heart

    1. Thank you, Sue. My life has changed drastically, as you know, since moving in with my daughter in a home so far from a city, that it is different from anywhere I have ever lived before. She has much chaos and noise that is stressful, to say the least. With toddlers running around and now a six month old baby always in need. I have raised my family and now yearn for solitude and to find peace. The pain I speak of is not a physical pain but an emotional pain, of which you allude to in your newest post. Everyone’s life is unique and some lives have more emotional pain than others’. Mine is, perhaps, not as difficult as others’ but for me alone, it is and has been extremely hard. It is not a complaint but merely an observation. I have practiced meditation most of my life but now I delve into it in a much deeper way (the book I mentioned to you is where I began). The book advised to me by my own mentor, friend and teacher. It is a slow process but I have adjusted more to the changes I find here and am hopeful, with time, things will change again and I will be once again on my own. It is my hope. But just to say, your most recent post and what it is I am in the process of doing, is somewhat connected. I thank you for your kind comments and for your own wonderful post. xoxo

    1. Thank you so much. During my meditation I do each morning I have found something called Zen TV. I don’t really watch television but there are some wonderful videos. Some have music and some do not but many are within nature. I find them wonderfully peaceful and was inspired by one I watch quite often that, of course, has a conch shell in it. The holidays will be a storm that passes through quickly…I hope. When there are little ones about it is all excitement, wonder and then finally, they are tired and fussing and crying at one another. So, I am a far past that and will do my best to be patient with the whole thing. I hope the holidays go well for you also, whatever it is you choose to do…or not. Take care.

      1. Hope you get through the holidays okay, Renee. I don’t have much tolerance for a lot of noise either….
Btw, I meditate every day also. Have found a free app called Insight Timer – have you heard of it? They have every kind of meditation music – something for everyone. Also guided meditations. (I have the app on my phone and you can also get it on your computer.) Will see if I can find Zen TV. Is it free?
Take good care of yourself, and I hope you can get some rest! ā¤ļø
