I Feel An Angel

Night Dew Angels

while the crescent moon
is high in the sky
somewhere between
dawn & midnight

I feel an angel
pass by this way

when the dampness of dew
is held softly on grass
looking much like tears
shed in sadness cast

I feel an angel
pass by this way

my mind wraps ’round
old sayings & things
‘when you hear a bell
an angel gets their wings’

I feel an angel
pass by this way

when I smell the scent
of a forgotten perfume
or fragrant flowers
within my room

I feel an angel
pass by this way

though scripted not
in the time after passing
& the harshness
of the hour has gone
never lasting

I feel an angel
pass by this way

now of spiritual grace
they fill the space
so unforgiving
once void of all
that was
theirs’ in living

I feel an angel
pass by this way

  1. Renee — I love this!! Particularly because I am in the place I am — what would have been my Dad’s birthday, and my mom nearing the end of her earthly journey. This gives me peace! Thank you! xoxo

  2. I always think of your dad as my mom passed around the same time. I do think of how your mom is doing and know especially that she has those waiting for her when the time comes. I am happy that the writing of this has caused some sense of peace within you. I believe we are surrounded by angels and thus my family who has gone before is always close by. Take care and know that you are surrounded by angels and that your dad is with you during this time. Blessings to you and your family

    1. I do believe they are here, the ones that have gone before us, as their spirit lives on. My youngest son’s mother-in-law died recently and also my daughter’s father-in-law amongst others in a short period of time. I wish for them now the comfort of angels to which I believe they have become. Thank you Claudia.

  4. what a magical poem! hope all has been well at your end! you must have read the reason behind my disappearance! the internet speed in my new place is almost nil! its a slower than snail! So these days I am trying to keep my oldest blog alive and will start Thursday posts as soon as I can to keep in touch with other friends!

    1. I really believe there are things one cannot understand and feeling the presence of those no longer physically here is one. After my mother died my father said he saw her in the house where I was raised and I believe he did.

  9. this is so beautiful Renee, and I do believe we have many Angels who walk their earth walk without their feathered wings.. but who do just as many good works.. But I also firmly believe in Angels and know they are only a call away should we need their help ..
