i yearn for the simplicity
of writing
fingers wrapped ’round
pen or pencil
bringing to life
unchoreographed
tidings
unlike walking into a
warehouse office store to
view the most admirable
‘mouse’ required in
every household
adored
awaiting the newest owner
to purchase them
taking one home to
begin the commencement
of writing via
keyboard
until i realize there seems
to be a disconnect
between my
un-furried friend and me
nothing moving
or seen
my anxiety growing if words
cannot flow i make my
way back to the ‘super’
warehouse office store
talking to youth
in an uproar
he pointedly states that
‘it shouldn’t be
that hard’
i point out the vast
difference in age
setting the stage
i turn on my heel to leave
him there
returning to my
mouse companion
only to find he has now
settled in
i again yearn for the
simplicity of
writing once again
fingers wrapped ’round’
pencil or pen

How frustrated can one become I found out today when my mouse died and found I was lost without him. Going in search of a new one and then trying to connect him was a new experience as this one does not plug in. Go figure! It probably would have been easier to simply pick up a pen and paper but as everyone seems to be, I too am tied into the world of technology and could not begin until my mouse was once again working.

You must have bought a wireless mouse Renee. It still needs to have something to work it plugged in for the computer to ‘recognise’ it. I hear you on how frustrating it is though. You are not alone 🙂 Well said!

I did finally figure it out but was not patient enough to realize that you have to wait for the little gadget you plug into your hardrive to recognize the driver for the mouse. So, when I got back home it did work. LOL

I know how you feel. Our computers can help us do so many things, but the learning curve is endless. Because something breaks and needs replaced. I think the constant need to learn is particularly difficult as we age, but I also think it will force our aging brains to stay clear. I try to embrace it.

I have been trying for many years now to have patience with all of our technology so every day is a challenge. I work at a computer every day processing medical claims and there I can at least call a Technician if something goes wrong. At home, though, I try my best and when all else fails call upon one of my daughters…who live a distance…so they can walk me through the problem. They are always up for a good laugh. 🙂

ah those technical challenges lurk everywhere…yeah..sometimes it would be much easier to just take a pen and write on a piece of paper..done this for years.. but thankful for the computer now as well… we learn as we go..sigh..

Quite frankly it is a catch 22, so to speak, as I love the feel of pen and paper but typing is so much faster…sigh…LOL

Oh, I loudly hear your frustration, Renee. I am technologically challenged it seems but still prefer writing by computer…so much easier to compose there for me. Thank goodness for those we can call on to help us out of our jams!

My daughters just laugh. They are quite amused by my ineptness.

I love nothing better than writing with my pen if I write letters to friends.. as I have special paper and pen.. and love the flow of words on paper.. So too in my poem and writing journals..
But I have to say I do like typing also… As I work mainly from my laptop I do not have a mouse.. and when I transfer to work with a mouse Im all fingers and thumbs…. I once got a cordless mouse.. and Hummmmm had the same problem I think as yourself.. Very Frustrated ..
Loved this little tale of a mouse.. 🙂 xxx Sue

I do have lots of little notebooks around for when I want to jot some word/words down so I don’t forget. I decided to turn my frustration around in this post. Thanks! 🙂

computer addicts like us should keep a standby mouse. my case was really annoying- in a span of one month my THREE mouses died one after the other. i just cant work properly without them.

So sad for you Trisha. Perhaps you need to talk to them with your poetry and they will settle in such as my new one has for me. You have given me a bit of a laugh as I hope I have you. LOL
