wind full of sea salt surrounding
us walking the boardwalk
wooden planks reminiscent of
yesteryears gone by
but are they really
gone
footsteps lightly falling next
to us, fashions changing
from one piece bathing
suits to ones…barely
while ocean sands remain holding
sunbathers catching rays or
covered beneath large
umbrellas while
children now as then create
sand castles and some
belly surf while others
ride surfboards not
heard of then
we walk on amidst the chatter
of others the breeze
bringing to our ears a
cacophony of thunderous
ocean waves and
laughter
all this caught in a panoramic
moment in time the hourglass
sands swift bringing
from yesteryears gone by
but are they really
gone

No Renee, I dont think they are really gone.. Times and places change.. But our Memories don’t much, as we remember those wonderful times of yesteryears… But I would also like to think, our grandchildren as they walk, swim and play near the ocean.. Also will remember their days in just the same way in their yesteryears…
Beautiful poem.. Hope you having a good Weekend… Take care… Sue

Sometimes I feel as though their shadows walk there still. My sister and I walked this boardwalk in CA when I visited there.

O, to be walking in sand on an isolated beach. Not the tourist ones that are packed like sardines. You’ve painted a lovely picture here of what it is though and yes, their costumes these days barely cover anything. But I agree with Sue, the days are the same. People change, places change, memories endure.
A truly lovely write Renne

Actually, this one can get lots of tourists but never the ‘sardine packed’ kind. LOL. I had a lovely time walking this boardwalk with my sister and such a good time. I could have stayed forever. Thank You!
