Flying Free

she refuses to succumb
to pain anchored
inside her body like
a ship anchored to
the dockside

pulling her this way
that, up and down,
unreasonable
especially at night
pulling aside
sleepy eyes

no respect for her
life..nagging at the
dark recesses inside
forbidden corners
of her mind
waiting

she waits too for a
moment of breathe
a break in the stillness
holding her prisoner
iron bars to
bind

opens up the window
quiet now…pain will
not hear her as she
enters into the
darkness to
aspire

sleep will come and
soon she will take
flight in dreams
leaving pain and
the world
behind
