Quote by Lewis Carroll

One of my favorite authors is Lewis Carroll and I love this quote I found by him. Hope you enjoy! Below I have given a brief bio of him and also am image of one of the pictures that can be seen from the book Alice in Wonderland.

When I use a word…it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less….The question is…which is to be master — that’s all.

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson ( 27 January 1832 – 14 January 1898), better known by the pseudonym Lewis Carroll , was an English author, mathematician, logician, Anglican deacon and photographer. His most famous writings are Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass, as well as the poems “The Hunting of the Snark” and “Jabberwocky”, all examples of the genre of literary nonsense. He is noted for his facility at word play, logic, and fantasy, and there are societies dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of his works and the investigation of his life in many parts of the world, including the United Kingdom, Japan, the United States, and New Zealand.

Filaments Electric

Treading the still
night air as lightly the
breeze touches
her long black hair

 she dances

 ephemeral waves of
dreams with filaments
electric a mirrored
sillhouette being

she floats

 moving amidst
all that has been and
all that will be
resonating clearly as

she leaves

 insatiable thirst
quenched to be
captured ‘neath the
moonbeam sea

Mellow Yellow Monday

Never have quite gotten use to the rain here in Washington but the beauty of the mountains, and on a clear day I can see Mt Ranier from my home, is awesome. The daffodil fields in this scene happen every year and we have a parade that goes through downtown with floats, a Daffodil Queen and court and a little of something for everyone. That will happen next month. Not my photo but found this on-line. Enjoy!

Gratitude of a Wordsmith

Gratitude is not enough
measure to those
wordsmiths whose footprints
I’ve followed as I
color my world in ever
more brilliant prose

like the kaleidoscope
with broken pieces of
glass twirling among
the sheltered places of
my heart collecting in
ever-growing numbers

 like dappled sunlight that
dances on nature’s sunlit
places of trees whose green
leaves have burst into
living shady beings with

sun’s first warm rays to
give cadence to my
thoughts as they come
to life to play upon the
page a musical whimsy of

artistic endeavor and my
emotions rolled out upon
invisible parchment made
real for all those who
wordsmith after I am gone

Evidence of Spring

Hyacinths making their way

toward the sunlight

evidence Spring has arrived

Yesterday was our first real warm day of Spring and today promises to be very much the same. Worked in the garden yesterday and this image looks much like the hyacinths that are coming up now in my garden.

Tattered pants cling to him
one foot is missing as he
waits sitting in his chair the
light rail riding steadily
making its’ way down the
hill people agog are staring

Homelessness is not partial

Exhaustion overtakes him now
nods his head, closes his eyes
wakes fitfully to look around
mumbles quietly to only himself
grimy hands and face weathered
to the wheelchair tethered

Homelessness is emptiness waiting

Hunger wantonly showing through
threadbare clothes simply clinging
rail slows to a stop as the ramp
descends his smile a caricature of
life waiting and with no fear he
announces ‘Evel Knievel’s’ coming

Homelessness takes many hostages

I was riding the light rail coming home and the gentleman I saw in his wheelchair told a story, sad but true. Found this image at a site for the Ventura County Star News and decided to use it. The story found through the link tells about this gentleman seen in the photo. Caused me to reflect what might be in store for the man I saw today.

Wanted to show you an amazing photo taken by my niece, who is now 15yrs old, and who has been taking photos since before tiny fingers should have been able to. These yellow flowers are beautiful and the honey bee seems to think so as well.

Hints of My Muse

Trembling hints of my muse
in shadows hidden waiting
as each ‘i’ is dotted and
each ‘t’ is crossed to
reveal impressions of all
great writers’ hesitations

Timeless stories traversing
millennia of contemplation
inked quill parchment but
tiny fragments in the telling
trembling hints of my muse
awaiting sparks of imagination

Image Reflections

Reflections of our images
held captive by the sun
burned into the surface
an afterglow reference for
the angel you’ve become
reflections of your image

Do you believe in Angels? I do and believe they are walking amongst us.

This photo is one I found that reminds me of the fields of flowers we have in the Spring here in Washington (Spring has yet to announce itself) but these are in the beautiful country of Holland. Enjoy!
