Mellow Yellow Monday

I use to have grape vines in my backyard and found this image that reminded me of the grapes that would hang on the vines. A lot of work so I no longer have them but the grapes they produced were really good.

Field of Wild Flowers and Queen Anne’s Lace

She summons the courage to
propel herself forward
back in time past school
yards covered in dirt
surrounded by chain link
fences with children
playing nursery rhymes

but all she really wants
is to lie down in a field
of wild flowers amidst
the queen anne’s lace

She wills herself to run
past youthful wiles of
teen age pessimism all
heart’s emotions a roller
coaster played out in a
game of self-fulfilling
hurt of loveless guiles

but all she really wants
is to lie down in a field
of wild flowers amidst
the queen anne’s lace

She takes determined steps
past hopeful dreams
anchored in the concrete
of city streets and high
rise buildings with a
widening gap of poverty
and wealthy ego schemes

but all she really wants
is to lie down in a field
of wild flowers amidst
the queen anne’s lace

She propels herself forward
past everything gone to
here and now trying to find
her spirit at last letting
go of the trappings of life
free to love and give back
passion of life in flying

so then she can finally be
able to lie down in a field
of wild flowers amidst
the queen anne’s lace

Espadrille Footprints

I remember her walking
leaving espadrille
footprints on the
sandy shore

cosmic dust in the
evening sky a
star dust stream
settling amidst
diamond particles
in the sand

each step taken by
tide’s wavy hands
greedy seaweed
grasping broken
shells

she stares upon the
open sea
gazing hungrily
needing moon beams
to become a
path

taking her away
as dreamers
often do to
another land
a distant
horizon

when I next look
her footsteps
remain to
be swept away

in the foamy
tide as only the
espadrilles
remain

Quote by Michaelangelo

I like this quote by the great artist as I believe the same can be said of writing. We have only to write down our thoughts to set them free.

“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”

Michelangelo

Mellow Yellow Monday

Just went to the market yesterday and although this is not my photo it is very much like many of the vibrant colors of fruit I saw there. I take my images mostly from Free Desktop Wallpapers. There are others that take much better photos than I could and this has splashes of the color yellow throughout.

Savoring the juicy flavors of fruit with my eyes.

Falling

She remembers the
feeling of
falling
falling
falling
down a thousand
feet to the
creek below

The creek bed lie
swirling
swiftly
moving
in the rainy
 windy
afternoon

She could see the
pebbles

smooth
glass
reflections
greeting

Then the bridge
swinging
stilled
silencing
her fears

She trembled as
hanging on
she saw him
waiting

The other side
beckoning she
moved forward

She no longer
was falling

Years ago now I went on a hiking trip with some friends and my teenage son. The foot bridge across the stream below was closed so we climbed to the top to another way across, a swinging bridge with rope for hand holds and wooden slats that were not very close to one another.  When we arrived it began raining and the wind was strong. My son went straight across but I remained glued to the spot. I don’t do well with heights and I’ve never again went across another swinging bridge. There was only room for one person at a time to walk. Quite an experience.
