Kitchen gatherings, laughter
Festive aluminum tree aglow
Green, red lights a color wheel
Tension thick knives unpenetrate
Behind closed door depression
Heavy as a swirling fog hiding
Holding her unwilling to open
Warm days enveloped in the sun
Riding the Schwinn Rocket bike
Sprinkler fun beneath the Elm tree
Late night hide ‘n seek in darkness
Anger permeating the air breathed
Hot into lungs, suffocating, mindless
Skin welted red, punishment lingering
She disappears invisible, unreachable
